I have a couple of stunning dresses in the works, and I absolutely love this Tattered Scarlet Rose skirt that I finished a week or so ago… I’d actually like to keep it for myself – but for the past week, while working on my newest designs, every time I glanced over at it hanging so lovely in my studio, I don’t know, there was just something bothering me… So, I decided to remove the handful of black fabrics I had worked into the right side and replace them with sheer white “tatters” to see how that would look instead. I think it looks so gorgeous, and now I’m completely and thoroughly satisfied with it! Take a look at it below and see what you think! You can click any of the images to go directly to the Boutique, and there’s also a coordinating fascinator for it in the works, so stay tuned…
TATTERS AND RIBBONS AND PEARLS, Oh My! This stunning Tattered Shabby Skirt is not for the faint of heart, but for a true fashionista. It was weeks in the making – delicately hand made with mostly new fabrics and a handful of upcycled materials to give it a touch of elegance. It’s unusual, whimsical, one of a kind and even more beautiful, detailed and charming in person than in the photos, I promise. You will stand out in the crowd and be the belle of the ball in this stunning skirt. It’s perfect for parties, special occasions or when you jut wanna feel girly girl and feminine. Not found in any stores… an original design by lulu Couture. Click any of the photos to go directly to the Boutique and stay tuned, a coordinating fascinator is in the works.
I am so loving how this skirt is coming along… made from scratch with mostly new and a handful of upcycled fabrics… just gorgeous, but it has a long way to go… below are a couple of night shots. Stay tuned, I should have it finished by late Thursday! [Update: Almost finished… omg, wait til you see it – there’s so much more to it than the photos of the early stages below show!]
This gorgeous Shabby Chic Tattered Denim Cuff Bracelet is a unique design you will absolutely love. It looks positively faboo with jeans! Just below it is a made-to-order Shabby Denim Cuff… the customer sent in her cross – a costume jewelry piece which had a broken chain. I incorporated the cross into the lovely design, sewed buttons on to fit snugly around her wrist and the result is just awesome! Click any of the photos to view these pieces and the entire Collection.
Thanks for viewing, see you again soon!
This gorgeous dress is light and airy, a Stevie Nicks-style asymmetrical hem, with tiny black beads and fabric flowers on thin straps and on the skirt. Just a hint of draping fabric is gathered at the chest and a “fairy” skirt has lots of tattered tulle, its longest point reaching 45 inches from the chest down to just above the feet. It’s absolutely beautiful. Hand sewn, reconstructed and redesigned with new and upcycled fabrics. Click any of the photos to go directly to the Boutique and to see more photos of this dress. Update: I added a coordinating fascinator to make it a complete set. Check it out below!

I thought I’d post just a handful of photos and a small collage of my “shabby” studio/dressing room where my days are spent up to my ears in fabrics and yarns (to give my online clients an idea of where I’m creating their made to order couture) 🙂 I have plastic tubs (not shown) overflowing with every possible color of yarn, fabric, ribbon… I usually make a monthly trip to the supply store, and the feeling that comes over me when I see aisle after aisle of fabrics, yarns, pearls, crystals… there’s really nothing like it. I’m like a kid in a candy store – I love it! Also, I’m having so many issues with my current web host and their so-called customer service, that over the weekend, I was forced to get a new domain and start rebuilding my Boutique. The new website is My lulu Couture (instead of lulu Couture) and the url is http://www.mylulucouture.com. Over the next day or so, I’ll be updating all links, but in the meantime, if you’d like to make a note of it… I only have a quarter of my designs up, but my hope is to have it finished by the weekend.

So, I’ve started on my Spring Collection of upcycled fashions. So far today (and you really can’t tell too good in the photo below… it’s a cloudy, overcast day and the lighting wasn’t too good when I was taking this shot) but I have a whole beautiful black lace stretch waist going on, and I’ll see where it leads me. I’m thinking a full, fluffy skirt with lots of fabrics — tulle, cotton… we’ll see. Stay tuned!
